Product Detail

Why Composite Screening — The Technical Edge

The Composite Screening board features a co-extruded polymer cap layer measuring 0.8 mm — thicker than many competing products on the Australian market. This cap is the board’s first line of defence against UV degradation, staining, scratching, and moisture ingress, permanently bonded to the composite core via a full co-extrusion process.

The cap layer is stabilised with a dual-system UV package combining Hindered Amine Light Stabilisers (HALS) with UV absorbers. Under QUV accelerated weathering testing, boards achieved a colour difference of ΔE ≤ 4–5 after 3,000 hours of exposure — a critical performance benchmark in a country with some of the highest UV index readings on Earth.

MATERIAL COMPARISON

Composite Screening vs Traditional Timber Fencing

Traditional timber fencing requires regular painting or oiling, degrades rapidly under Australia’s UV, and remains a target for termites and rot throughout its service life. LastElegance Composite Screening delivers the same natural timber aesthetic at significantly lower total lifecycle cost — with no ongoing maintenance.

FAQ

Common Questions

Can’t find your answer? Our team is ready to help.

Yes. Every board features a 0.8 mm co-extruded polymer cap stabilised with a dual HALS and UV absorber system. After 3,000 hours of QUV accelerated weathering testing, colour shift remains ΔE ≤ 4–5 — well within acceptable limits for Australian coastal and high-UV conditions.

The board is also fully waterproof with a water absorption rate of just 0.2% (ASTM D1037), making it suitable for exposed coastal and marine-adjacent installations.

A post spacing of 0.8 m to 1.4 m is recommended, with a maximum of 1.6 m for standard installations.

Tighter spacing improves panel rigidity in high-wind and open coastal zones. Our trade team can advise on post spacing based on your specific site conditions and local wind requirements.

Composite Screening is supplied as a complete fence system. Components include top and bottom trim, corner brackets, spacer clips, post caps, and post skirts.

Posts are available in aluminium or WPC. All accessories can be ordered through our trade supply programme — no need to source hardware separately.

Yes. The board and clip system supports three installation configurations — closed (full privacy), semi-open (partial visibility with airflow), and open (decorative batten screening).

The configuration is determined at installation by adjusting the gap between boards using the included spacer clip system. No additional components are required to switch between configurations.

Composite Screening offers a natural timber aesthetic that can’t replicate. It also resists denting, does not conduct heat the way steel panels do (which can reach extreme surface temperatures in Australian summers), and supports three privacy configurations.

For projects where aesthetics, thermal comfort, and design flexibility are priorities, composite screening is increasingly the preferred specification for builders and landscapers.

Installation is designed to be straightforward — fix your posts, insert boards using the clip-and-slot system, and finish with trim. No specialist tools, adhesives, or structural fabrication are required.

A two-person crew can complete a standard residential fence panel efficiently, reducing labour costs significantly compared to traditional timber construction.

Yes. Full OEM and ODM services are available, including custom board lengths, colour matching, surface embossing, and branded packaging.

Custom mould development is also available for unique profile requirements. Contact our trade account team for minimum order quantities, lead times, and sampling arrangements.
